About Emma

My journey to becoming an acupuncturist began on the treatment couch. I was in my early 20s and, having struggled with anxiety and depression for a number of years, had tried all manner of conventional and alternative therapies with mixed results.

Then, during a particularly debilitating period of burnout and overwhelm, a friend suggested I try Five Element Acupuncture. I had never had acupuncture before and was curious about how these tiny needles might help me to regain my footing in life.

After only a few weeks of treatments, the difference I felt across my mind, body and spirit was incredible. Not only did my mood lift and my anxiety ease, but I was sleeping better, my digestion had improved and my energy levels were steadily climbing.

This transformation coincided with a crossroads in my life. Having recently finished a Masters degree in poetry and previously worked in a women’s mental health charity, I was looking for a path that would allow me to combine my creativity with my skills and experience in helping others to overcome mental and emotional challenges. My heart told me that acupuncture might be what I had been seeking. I took a leap of faith, began training as a practitioner, and found exactly what I had been looking for in Five Element Acupuncture’s intuitive, poetic and person-centred approach to health and healing.

My Acupuncture Practice

is deeply rooted in the understanding that one’s approach to health must be holistic if it is to be truly effective. I am of the belief that the mental, emotional and physical are inextricably linked and should always be treated as interdependent aspects of one unified whole.

Informed by ongoing training and previous experience of working in mental health services, I specialise in supporting people experiencing emotional and mental health challenges. My professional and personal experiences in this area continue to inform my understanding of the extent to which the state of our minds affects the state of our bodies and vice versa.

I am committed to every aspect of my clients’ wellbeing, and approach every course of treatment as a collaborative project led by the individual. My role is to listen and respond to your feedback and to the natural signals communicated by your body, with the goal of reinstating its innate ability to heal itself.

I hold a Licentiate in Acupuncture and practice Classical Five Element Acupuncture in the Worsley Tradition. Having completed an apprenticeship under renowned acupuncturist and teacher, Gerad Kite, I am a fully insured member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (AAC) and The British Acupuncture Federation (BAF). I am qualified in Mental Health First Aid and engage in regular ongoing training and professional development with teachers and supervisors including The Worsley Institute and Isobel Cosgrove.

Emma is an integral part of my self care routine and one of my most treasured healers. She has an innate ability to know exactly what needs to be cleared and energised, and takes time to compassionately listen to me and my needs. Sessions with Emma are like heart-centered therapy with an added holistic bonus. Since starting treatment, my stress and anxiety levels have vastly improved, as have my sleep issues, thanks to the way in which Emma holds space and her incredible knowledge of 5 Element Acupuncture. I always leave feeling grounded, nurtured and revitalised. Emma is exceptionally professional, empathetic, intuitive and wise. In short: a true healer.
